Pintia

Vega Sicilia stretched its feelers towards the west and acquired 1998 a finca in Toro. Since Vega Sicilia always makes everything superfluous, only three trials (1998/1999/2000) were vinified before the first vintage came on the market.

For years, many wine enthusiasts were waiting for the first year of the new Bodega Alquiriz in Toro. Initially, it was planned to name the wine "Alquiriz", but they decided to go with Pintia and the first vintage was 2001. The wait was worth it because not only Jancis Robinson and Robert Parker were enthusiastic about the Pintia tasting. A successful start for the new star at Toro's began!
Bodegas Pintia is located near the town of Toro, in the autonomous region of Castile and León. Bodegas Pintia has dedicated itself to the production of red wines. The predominant variety is Tinto Fino, also known as Tempranillo. Since the red varieties are best cultivated on the picturesque high plateaus of the region, other wines are cultivated, including Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère. The region is crossed by the river Duero, whose tributaries provide sufficient moisture. On the mineral and loamy soils, the grape varieties can gain strength and finesse. The design of the Pintia is more elegant, finer than the archetypic Toros.
